In addition to preparing your home for the spring and summer, it’s also a good time to start preparing your backyard. From your lawn, to your outdoor furniture and grill, getting things in order for backyard activities is key for a successful summer. Today we look at a few areas to keep in mind as you get ready to enjoy the sun and warm weather.
1. Lawn
Remove fallen branches and limbs and rake any leaves left over from the the fall. The last think you want is dead spots in your yard because of lingering debris. Inventory your garden tools and lawn equipment, and check to see that any electric or gas powered tools are in working order. Check your water hoses, and water hose faucets for leaks.
2. Patio Furniture
Unpack and clean off your lawn furniture. Check for rust or paint erosion for metal furniture and consider a spray enamel to prevent damage in the future. Check seat covers or cushions before laying out for the summer.
3. Grill
If you use a gas grill check your burners and hoses for any clogs or obstructions. Make sure your hoses are tightly secured. If you prefer charcoal make sure and clean any ash or grease residue off the grill. Grill maintenance is a good practice to use over the summer not just when opening thing up in the spring.
